Bonding

Here at our dental practice, we offer restorative, cosmetic, and endodontic treatments. One of the essential dental treatments we provide our patients is dental bonding, which is made from a resin that can be mixed to match the patient’s teeth. There are many reasons to get bonding, whether it is to fill a gap or help with teeth that are cracked and susceptible to breaking even further.

Our patients getting bonding benefit in the following ways:

  • ·         Fill gaps between their teeth.

  • ·         Fix cracked or chipped teeth.

  • ·         Cover discoloration or staining of the teeth.

  • ·         Provide an alternative to metal fillings for tooth decay or cavities.

  • ·         Help correct misshapen teeth.

  • ·         Cover exposed roots as a result of receding gums.

Before getting bonding done, no preparation is required and anesthesia usually isn’t needed. It is a simple procedure that is completed in a single visit. Bonding is a great alternative to other cosmetic options for filling cavities or fixing various imperfections in the patient’s teeth.

Call Dr. Nina Kiani at 212-279-8770 to schedule an appointment for dental bonding or book your appointment online here.

Dental Hygiene

Here at the Nina Kiani, DMD practice, we urge our patients to take good care of their teeth, including focusing on proper dental hygiene. Dental hygiene is important for a variety of reasons, including keeping the teeth and gums clean, protecting oral health, preventing infections and other dental issues, and having fresh breath. Dental hygiene includes brushing and flossing twice a day, and using fluoride in their toothpaste and mouthwash. It also includes visiting us twice a year for a check-up and professional cleaning.

Most of our patients know to brush their teeth regularly, but may not have the right technique. Dr. Nina Kiani offers education for proper brushing technique. This includes brushing their teeth with the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle, brushing their tongue to remove bacteria, cleaning the insides of the teeth and tilting the brush vertically to reach these places of the teeth, and brushing in wide strokes. By using these important techniques and focusing on all areas of dental hygiene, our patients have excellent oral health and prevent more serious complications.

If you are due (or past due) for your six month dental exam and cleaning, call our office in New York, NY at (212) 279-8770 to schedule your appointment.

Dental Crowns

Dental Crowns

Keeping natural teeth is something every one of our patients hopes to achieve. Unfortunately, many of them are at risk of losing their teeth from decay, gum disease, or weakened teeth that could crack or fracture. By getting crowns placed over their teeth, Dr. Nina Kiani helps patients protect the original tooth structure.

Here at Nina Kiani, DMD, we use different materials for crowns, including porcelain, gold and porcelain fused to metal. These are the most stable and long-term materials available. The process for crowns goes as follows:

1. The patient’s tooth is prepared by contouring and filing down the structure to make room for the crown.

2. Impressions are taken of the tooth and sent off to the lab to make the permanent crown.

3. The patient wears a temporary crown for about two weeks, until the permanent crown is fabricated.

4. Dr. Kiani bonds the permanent crown to the patient’s tooth.

From start to finish, crowns are completed in as little as 2-3 visits to our office. It is a simple process with minimal work needed. Call our office at 212-279-8770 to ask us in detail about crowns, the benefits and how the process works.

Intraoral Camera

Intraoral Camera

We use advanced technology for diagnosing and treating dental health issues in our patients. One type of technology that has proved very useful is the intraoral camera. With this camera, Dr. Nina Kiani is able to diagnose problems early and provide a great form of treatment. The camera is compact (the size of a large pen), easy to use, and image viewing is captured in real time.

While we also use digital x-rays for looking at the teeth, nerves, gums and jaw, there are some areas of the mouth that require a smaller tool with the ability to view more angles. This is what the intraoral camera provides us. Because of its small size, it lets us look at every angle of your mouth, while being comfortable for you.

Once the intraoral camera is turned on, we view the mouth on a monitor in real-time. It also lets our patients see what is going on in their mouth so they have a better understanding of their current oral health status and what procedures they might need in the future.

The intraoral camera can diagnose and find early signs of dental health issues, including cavities, plaque and gingivitis. If you are looking for a dentist in New York, NY who uses an intraoral camera, contact our office today. We’re conveniently located on 225 West 34th Street in New York.

Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays offer a multitude of advantages, including higher resolution images, lack of film, and a high level of accuracy. With digital X-rays, a small sensor is placed in our patient’s mouth and the images come up in a matter of minutes. Because the images are digital, they transfer directly to an imaging program on a nearby computer. This lets Dr. Nina Kiani and our patients view the images and discuss their current dental health.

Patients who visit us in New York, NY for digital X-rays benefit in the following ways:

  • Get X-rays with up to 90 percent less radiation.

  • Have shorter dental visits.

  • Get dental health issues diagnosed and treated early.

  • Have higher quality dental images for a more accurate diagnosis.

  • Transfer dental records easily, if needed.

  •  Participate in an environmentally friendly dental procedure.

Dental X-rays play an important role in the prevention and treatment of dental issues, and digital X-rays offer a safer, convenient, and more accurate dental X-ray than traditional X-rays. Learn more about the benefits of digital x-rays by visiting our website.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening

Many of the drinks and foods that we consume on a regular basis can discolor our smiles.  Even with excellent oral health care habits, our teeth can still become stained over time.  Fortunately, there are several ways to brighten your smile with teeth whitening at our office.

  •    In-Office Teeth Whitening – Chair side whitening is completed in just a single visit.  The professionally applied whitening gel can safely and effectively brighten your smile in just about an hour.

  •     Professional At-Home Whitening and Custom Trays – This whitening option is completed in two steps.  First, an impression of your teeth is used to create a custom whitening tray.  Then, a whitening gel is placed in the tray.  The trays can be used at a time that most conveniently fits your schedule.

  •     Over-The-Counter Whitening Products – These include tooth pastes, strips, one size fits all trays, brush-on-gels, etc.  While these mass-marketed products are less expensive initially, professional options provide more full coverage.  Over-the-counter options can be used to maintain the effects of a professional whitening service.

If you want to brighten your smile, call 212-279-8770 to schedule an appointment at our office.  We look forward to helping you decide on the whitening option that is best for your smile needs.
