Crowns

A dental crown is essentially a “cap” that covers the damaged tooth. Unlike removable devices such as dentures, crowns can be used to improve appearance, shape or alignment of teeth. Crowns are cemented onto existing teeth or implants and can only be removed by the dentist. Dental crowns are used in many applications. Mostly, they are used to protect a weak tooth from a fracture or to restore a fractured tooth. Crowns are also used during the dental implant process to cover the abutment while the jaw bone grows around the implant. Receiving a dental crown is a simple and non-invasive procedure that usually takes 2-3 visits. First, we take an impression of your tooth with a putty-like substance. Dr. Kiani will then create a temporary crown is made from a resin or acrylic material using the mold of your original tooth. We will also fit you with a temporary crown while the permanent crown is being created. Once we receive the permanent crown, we will remove the temporary crown and insert the permanent one. Dr. Kiani will secure the crown with cement.
